Having a name like mine when you live out of your country it's not easy. The fact that we have two last names in Spain, makes it even more difficult. In Holland for example, people thought I was married, being "Ruiz" the husband's last name and "Carretero" my own last name.
Sometimes, some people thought my name was "Ruiz"...
Here in USA it is even better because people think that "Ruiz" is my middle name and "Carretero" my first name. Yesterday I attended a symposium and look how my name appeared on my ID sticker :) The rest of the people had their first names with big letters and their last name in smaller letters.
Moreover, my name is open to many pronunciation styles. If u are not Spanish, try to say it :)))
